A Note from Mrs. Kaber:

Decade Days-

In honor of CCLS' 50th Anniversary, the week leading up to the Carnival (September 18-22) will be themed dress days! Students may choose to wear their school uniforms or items with the decade in mind. Here is what the week will look like:
  • Monday: 1970s
  • Tuesday: 1980s
  • Wednesday: 1990s
  • Thursday: 2000s
  • Friday: 2010s or wear your favorite CCLS Carnival t-shirt!

Wheel-a-Thon- Our Kindergarten classes will be hosting our annual Wheel-a-thon on September 25th from 9:30-10:30 am. Each child can bring a bike, scooter, roller-skates or anything with wheels to help raise money to sponsor a child to go to school. With your help, we are trying to raise over $250 per class. We sent home information with a money envelope for people to sponsor your child in the wheel-a-thon. Our goal is at least $10 per child to reach our sponsor goal. Ask grandparents, coworkers, family, and friends and see how many people can help with our kindergarten project! If you would like to come and cheer on our kindergarteners as we make laps around the parking lot, feel free to help make signs and assist with pulling bikes etc out to the parking lot. We can't wait!

Friday Fun Days- Every Friday your student may bring a stuffed animal to school for quiet reading/Flashlight Friday. This needs to be a soft plush type of animal and not a hard toy. We are having students bring toys to school when it is not for Mystery letter bag time or Fun Friday. We do not want students to be upset if items are lost or broken. Thanks for understanding!

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out!

In Him,

Mrs. Kaber

A Note from PE:

Kindergarten PE is off to a great start! It’s hard to believe we finished our 5th week of school already.  The students are learning what is expected in class and seem to be enjoying learning new activities and exercises.  The first quarter we talk a lot about ‘bubble space’ (personal space) and practice keeping it as we move in class. They use It while running laps, and practicing locomotor skills and creative movements while moving where they choose. After they mastered keeping bubble space, we played our first tag game called “Here comes the Fox”.  They loved this game. We also worked on Tempo and moving in different speeds.  Using this, they are working on endurance in running.  Sometimes I roll a die to see how may laps they will run for warm-up, if it is a high number, they’ve learned to pace themselves by running slow at first, then medium speed, and saving their fast for last.  They are doing so well – many can run all 6 laps without walking by pacing themselves! They have also learned jumping jacks, sit-ups, and another abdominal exercise called Floor touches.  In the upcoming weeks, I will teach more strengthening exercises, tag games, cooperative activities, and kicking skills.

If you have any questions, or your student needs to be dismissed from PE for any reason, please reach out to me at nknost@ccls-stlouis.org.
